Waypoint Waterfront Park

Bellingham, WA

Since 2006, Walker Macy has been working on multiple phases and with multiple owners and clients on the planning and design of the redevelopment of a former Georgia-Pacific paper mill site in Bellingham. The site is now envisioned as a mixed-use urban neighborhood with ample new public open spaces, including a new waterfront park. Planning was guided by the site’s striking context, with views to Puget Sound and the San Juan Islands preserved. The new waterfront park will provide substantial water access, linking other waterfront open spaces to the new neighborhood. Historic resources will be a rich aspect of the amenities, including industrial relics re-purposed in public art installations.
