UC Riverside Physical Master Plan

Walker Macy was a core member of the Campus Physical Master Plan team which laid the groundwork for many new campus projects in its vicinity. The firm led the vision for campus open space and public realm design, building on the firm’s prior successful plans. The plan calls for a transformation of the institution to become a national model for academic excellence. This will result in increasing enrollment from 22,000 to 25,000 students by 2020. The campus will also add 300 faculty members to its current roster of 720 instruction and research faculty. The focus is on improving the campus’ academic center, community-building, and investment in the core campus where there is existing infrastructure and where there can be faculty-student interaction across disciplines. Notably, this project engaged the campus community at a previously unprecedented level, building a base for engaging in dialogue about campus evolution.
