This plan offers a comprehensive approach to the revitalization of Pioneer Square’s parks, plazas and neighborhood entrances. As Seattle’s oldest neighborhood, Pioneer Square is currently witnessing an impressive turn-around with new businesses and development. Its collection of unusual parks, plazas, and pedestrian-oriented open spaces currently lack clarity and security, and have not kept pace with the neighborhood’s evolution. Our plan builds on the district’s momentum and proposes a long range vision for key open spaces, transforming them into inspiring, active, and inclusive spaces while protecting historic character.
