Walker Macy is leading the restoration and revitalization of Freeway Park, a modernist Seattle landmark that spans I-5 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Freeway Park was the first park to be built over a highway. It was designed to enhance urban life through environmental experience, merging the energy of the city with the drama of the Pacific Northwest landscape. In 2020, we developed a master plan aimed at bringing Freeway Park into a new era, and have since designed a series of phased improvements for the park. The work aims to reconnect the park to its evolving context, bring people back to the park, and restore its role as a centerpiece of Seattleās famous park system.
