Walker Macy is working with the City of Eugene to transform a post-industrial riverfront site into a major downtown attraction and catalyst for mixed-use development. The design reconnects the 5th Street market area to the river and establishes a signature urban park. As a cultural landscape, the park integrates ecology, industry, public art, historic structures and river views along a newly designed segment of the Ruth Bascomb Regional Trail. Walker Macy is also working on related upland infrastructure and streetscape design, and examining possibilities for district wide stormwater treatment, greywater re-use, and opportunities for phytoremediation.
