Elliott Bay Connections

Elliott Bay Connections is part of a decades-long effort to reconnect the city of Seattle to its downtown waterfront. Walker Macy is leading a large interdisciplinary design team on this $45M project that connects other open spaces with a 3/4-mile multi-use greenway and 16 acres of revitalized waterfront parks. The project creates a connected, green experience for visitors of all ages and abilities with multi-use trails, new opportunities for play, places to touch the water, extensive native landscape and shoreline restoration, indigenous design and storytelling, a public amenity building (haʔłali), and improvements that support accessibility, comfort and quality throughout.

Elliott Bay Connections is a public-private partnership that involved close collaboration with multiple City agencies and local stakeholders along with state and federal permitting agencies for shoreline and in-water work. With aims to create a long-lasting legacy for Seattle, the project will provide ecological and civic benefit for years to come. When the EBC project is complete, Seattle will enjoy 50 acres of connected parks and public spaces spanning three and a half miles along Elliott Bay.

The project is under construction and will open in time for the World Cup in June 2026.
