Yellowstone Youth Campus Design

Yellowstone National Park, WY

Walker Macy was part of the team that won a design competition to re-imagine the Youth Conservation Corps (YCC) Camp buildings and site. The YCC camp site is important both for park functioning and for youth development. The YCC is crucial to the upkeep of the park, helping sustain Yellowstone’s ecological and historic quality for the millions of visitors who come to the park each year. The current YCC camp site is under capacity and is lacking livability. The re-design offers building renovations and replacements and a reconfiguration of the site to make it more context- and climate-sensitive and functional for the social life and education of campers.
