Willamette Falls Legacy Project

Willamette Falls is one of the highest-volume waterfalls in North America and an important cultural and historical site for Native American Tribes. As the end of the Oregon Trail, it is also considered the birthplace of Oregon. Walker Macy led the effort to establish a comprehensive vision and framework plan for the site as it transforms from industrial uses to public space, with new development and substantial new access to the falls. Willamette Falls will become a vibrant, mixed-use landmark and district that respects and celebrates the site’s stunning spectacle, character, and history. The Legacy project set the groundwork for healing this significantly impacted, post-industrial site, with environmental restoration proposed in balance with public experiences.
