Pioneer Square Parks and Gateways

This plan offers a comprehensive approach to the revitalization of Pioneer Square’s parks, plazas and neighborhood entrances. As Seattle’s oldest neighborhood, Pioneer Square is currently witnessing an impressive turn-around with new businesses and development. Its collection of unusual parks, plazas, and pedestrian-oriented open spaces currently lack clarity and security, and have not kept pace with the neighborhood’s evolution. Our plan builds on the district’s momentum and proposes a long range vision for key open spaces, transforming them into inspiring, active, and inclusive spaces while protecting historic character. In continuation of the firm’s work on this project, Walker Macy developed a conceptual design for multiple public open spaces, including King Street Station Plaza.
