April came to Walker Macy after managing an award winning proposal for the Master Plan for Elizabeth Park in Hartford, Connecticut. “During my cross-country journey to Portland, I was amazed at the extreme variety of landscapes I had yet to explore.” She is fascinated by the design process, how design affects quality of life, and that landscape architecture weaves together art, ecology and community. April has experience managing complex project challenges and facilitating positive and productive collaboration between team members. She has led projects from conceptualization to design development, detailing to construction administration.
“What I am most excited to experience here in the Northwest are the unfamiliar landscapes of our natural and urban environments. There is an energy here that is really inspiring and I look forward to bringing that into my work at Walker Macy.” On the weekends, April is exploring what the Pacific Northwest has to offer: the mountains, Portland’s neighborhoods, and swooning over the amazing selection of local IPAs. April earned her Bachelor of Science in Environmental Planning & Design at Rutgers in 2011.
