Senior Landscape Architect / Quality Control Specialist

We are seeking a Quality Control Specialist who will serve as an integral project team member with the role of improving design both technically and aesthetically. The role ensures effective project implementation in the definition of the materials, techniques, and documentation of the work in order to bring distinction and character to our projects. The Quality Control Specialist is a positive and creative team member who mentors the design team in the technical aspects of our work. The role includes working with professional staff to develop technical details and specifications, as well as providing regular quality control redlines throughout the project development process to ensure that our documentation is continually refined to achieve exemplary built landscapes.  We have two offices one in Portland and one in Seattle. Since the position requires mentoring all staff and participating in some CA visits, travel is required.

The Quality Control Specialist should seek excellence in the profession, be dedicated to the advancement of the firm and our staff, have good communication skills and possess a desire to mentor staff in the technical aspects of design. Attributes of the individual include being: engaging, responsive, approachable, knowledgeable, resourceful and educational.

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in landscape architecture, architecture, or construction management and professional licensure is required.

We are seeking candidates with strong technical expertise, a minimum of 15 years of experience in landscape architecture or a related field, construction knowledge and field experience, accurate interpretation and application of codes and life safety requirements, and expertise in construction detailing and specifications.  Knowledge of Geotechnical, Architectural, Civil, Structural and Electrical professions and their interface with Landscape Architecture is critical. LEED or Sites registration, and working knowledge of sustainable practices, is strongly preferred.
