sTEPHEN RAYAssociate“If landscape architecture were a recipe, it would require a big dollop of inspiration, a pinch or two of economic understanding, and a seasoning to taste of art appreciation and history,” says Ray. “The result will be different every time you try it.” Stephen discovered landscape architecture when he was young. “I remember visiting my grandmother and looking at her copies of House Beautiful,” he remembers. “I was fascinated by the wonderful plan drawings of the houses and gardens.” After starting out in architecture at University of Michigan, the Wisconsin-native decided he'd rather work with plants. Before coming to Walker Macy, he lived in Seattle for thirty-five years and worked on some exciting projects including Gas Works Park, an iconic example of industrial archeology. When he's not working, he's visiting gardens and museums. |
