Laura Herbon grew up in Motown, and as a child played in the flat-land woods and wetlands around her house. “I've always been drawn to the natural world and feel a deep connection to nature,” says Laura. In-between receiving her bachelor's in Natural Resources and her master's in Landscape Architecture, Laura worked in research labs at the University of Michigan 's Medical School and Department of Biology.

Laura came to Landscape Architecture because she's equally as passionate about science and the arts. “It seemed like the perfect profession for me—a career where I could meld my background in science with my appreciation for art and aesthetics,” says Laura. She has 18 years of experience in sustainable landscape design. When Laura's not designing in her white coat, she's hiking in the outdoors or working in her garden.
