"This stands in need of not only an understanding of architectural principals, design, and aesthetics, but also a comprehensive understanding of and respect for the history, enduring culture, community identity, environment, socio-economic principles that the site is dependent on." For Brooke Raila, formative Landscape Architecture experiences included studies in France and participation in the design charette for Pier 70 in San Francisco. "I experienced the power and complexity of working with a large group of designers from a variety of backgrounds and disciplines," says Raila, reminiscing about this complex project. Raila is a Connecticut native and recent transplant to Portland, where she is pursuing the region's trails and natural areas, as well as her newfound enthusiasm for yoga. |
