Summer Internship Program

Walker Macy offers students the opportunity to participate in a full-time summer internship to explore our profession and connect the theoretical with the practical. The student intern will be exposed to a range of scales and project types and to an assortment of professional activities, such as urban planning, marketing, construction site visits, design documentation and model building. The position is 40 hours per week and usually runs June through August. Start and finish dates are flexible, depending on the student’s school schedule. While the position is unpaid, a stipend will be provided to allow students to cover living expenses during their stay in Portland, Oregon.

Requirements include:

  • Enrollment in an accredited landscape architecture program with at least three years of study (Bachelors applicant) or at least 2 years of study (Masters applicant).
  • Computer skills (Adobe Suite, AutoCAD, and PowerPoint)
  • Design and illustrative graphic skills
  • Willingness to learn and participate in a diverse range of support tasks

  • Work samples –10 pages or less, no bigger than 8.5 x 11 inch page format.  Please caption each drawing with media used.
