“Landscape architecture found me,” says Matthew, reflecting on his entry into the profession. Inspired by landscape architecture’s commitment to environmental responsibility and interdisciplinary emphasis, Matthew was lured away from his early forays in architecture. “I love the fundamental requirement to think in four dimensions. Landscape architecture allows the designer to think at an awesome range of scales and tests how responsibly the designer takes into consideration the aspect of time.” His love for the outdoors keeps him gardening and cycling whenever possible, while playing trumpet as an improvising musician keeps him going during the rainy season.
